The Chungcheongbuk-do Provincial Assembly (vice-chairperson: Han Sang-gil) hosted the 32nd Chungbuk Peaceful Unification Forum at Surachae Restaurant in Cheongju on March 13, with around 30 council members and forum members in attendance.

At the forum headed by Lee Jea-rock, professor at Cheongju University, a presentation was given by Yoo Ho-keun, professor of the College of Social Sciences at Cheongju University, on “The Uncertainty of Situation in Northeast Asia and Prospects of Unification in Korea.” Kim Il-su, professor of political science at Chungbuk National University, relayed his opinion as a designated debater.

At the forum that day, the presentation and designated debate were followed by a free debate wherein all participants expressed their opinions. Forum participants believe that the nationalism of the surrounding countries will amplify the uncertainty in Northeast Asia even further, and that it is more important than ever for our government to promote a consistent unification policy amid the difficulty in predicting the future.
