  • The Cheongju-si (Chungbuk-do) Municipal Chapter (Head : Oh Hyeong-jin) ran a 4-week unification leader training course focused on the enhancement of local residents' unification-related capability and better understanding of the reality of North Korea. Said course was conducted at the conference room of the Heungdeok-Gu Office [140 people attending for the first week (January 30 ~ February 5), 130 people on the second week (February 6 ~ 12); third week consisting of hands-on experience of the relevant sites; fourth week during the period February 27 ~ March 5).

    At the training course, Mr. Ahn Deuk-gi, a researcher at the Institute for National Security Strategy, and Professor Ahn Seong-ho of Chungbuk National University gave special lectures on the “Current Situation Surrounding the Korean Peninsula and Reality of the Country's Unification-related Diplomacy and Security” and “Changes in the North Korean Regime Led by Kim Jong-un and South's North Korean Policies.” Ms. Kim Yeong-ok, a North Korean refugee, then explained the reality of North Korea. Following the lectures, attendees took part in small-group discussions and presentations. Subjects discussed at small-group sessions were: North's Nuclear Tests and Kim Jong-un Regime's Foreign Policy; Security Situation on the Korean Peninsula and Status of Our Preparations, and; How to Strengthen People's Unification-related Capability and Desirable Directions of Promotion of Unification-related Activities of Municipal Chapters.
