  • A college students' debate session on national unification was held at Kyonggi University at Suwon and Chonnam National University on November 13 and December 4, respectively. The session is designed to enhance college students' view of the environment for the unification of the Korean Peninsula and the relevant international situations and reinforce the students' commitment to national unification.

    At the college students’ debate session hosted by the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly Youth Committee (Chief Jeong Ha-yong), Professor Yang Jeong-hun of the University of Suwon made a presentation on the “Unification of the Korean Peninsula and the Country’s Strategic Collaboration with Russia.”Afterward, the following people engaged in a debate: Vice-head Kwon Gi-suk of the Korean Association for Patriots and Veterans Affairs Studies, Jeong Jae-kyung (junior, Kyonggi University), and Kim Sae-sol (senior, Kyonggi University). The debate session kicked off with greetings by Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly Vice-chairperson Baek Seong-gil, and it was presided over by Dean Yoo Yeong-ok of the Graduate School of International Studies & Culture of Kyeonggi University. More than 150 students from Kyeonggi University, University of Suwon, and Jangan University attended and expressed diverse opinions.

    The college students’ debate session hosted by the Gwangju Provincial Assembly Youth Committee (Chief : Yang Seong-gon) was held at Chonnam National University on December 4 under the theme “Unification of Two Germanys and its Lesson,” with more than 100 students attending.

    The session was presided over by Professor Choi Yeong-tae of Chonnam National University. Yang Hi-yeol (junior, Chonnam National University) made a presentation on the “Process of Germany’s Unification.” Kim I-yeong (junior, Chonnam National University) gave a presentation on the “Lesson of Germany’s Unification for Korea.” Two students (Lee Ji-yeok and Shin Min-u) engaged in a debate, followed by North Korean refugee Park Su-ryeon explaining the reality of North Korea.
