The Paju Municipal Chapter (head: Kim Kyeong-seon) of Gyeonggi-do held a Discussion Contest on Patriotism for High School Students jointly with the Kyeonggi Ilbo on Feb. 12 and 13 at Gyeonggi English Village.

A total of 120 high school students from all over the country joined the contest to discuss 6 subjects related to national defense and security: △ Is the agreement on sharing military information by and among South Korea, USA, and Japan reasonable? △ Should the military introduce again the system of giving extra points to those who completed their military service when administering an examination for employment? △ Should flying the leaflets to North Korea continue? △ Should our generation prepare for national unification expenses? △ Should support for North Korean refugees be expanded?

Discussions were held by groups of 5 students each who presented the pros and cons of the subject given to each team. They were evaluated in the aspects of the validity of each one’s opinions, the cooperation among the members and extent of adjustment, and additional points.
