The Siheung Municipal Chapter (head: Seong Nak-heon) of Gyeonggi-do held a joint wedding ceremony for 5 couples who are North Korean defectors at the Siheung Business Center Convention Hall on December 9 with the participation of around 100 people, including council members and guests.

In his officiant's message, Chapter head Seong Nak-heon noted that today's event is a meaningful ceremony prepared by the Siheung Municipal Chapter in the hope that each mind comes together and that the South and the North are united. "I sincerely congratulate the 5 couples for going through the joint wedding ceremony on this blessed day, and we will stay by your side until the day we become one," he added.

The Siheung Municipal Chapter supports joint wedding ceremonies for North Korean defectors living in Siheung but who have difficulty holding wedding ceremonies due to hardships in life; 10 couples had a wedding ceremony last year.
