The Caribbean Chapter of Central America (head: Oh Byung-moon) held the 71st National Liberation Day Ceremony at the Korean Descendant Cultural Center in Havana, capital city of Cuba, on August 7 by inviting 80 Korean descendants.

The ceremony started with the national anthems of Cuba and the Republic of Korea, followed by opening address by chapter head Oh Byung-mun, congratulatory message by President Antonio Kim of the Korean Descendant Association, and cultural performance by descendants. The ceremony ended with an Arirang number by the participants.

The council members who visited Cuba for this ceremony also delivered 500 pieces of clothes, 200 pairs of shoes, 500 pairs of socks, and living necessities such as toothbrush and toothpaste and stationery to Korean descendants.

With the help of the Jose Marti Cultural Center in Cuba, the Korean Descendant Cultural Center was opened in August 2014; it has been founded and operated with voluntary donations from council members in the Central American and Caribbean Chapter, and every celebration ceremony of National Liberation Day has been held here.
