The Atlanta Municipal Chapter (Head: Lee Sang-yong) invited North Korean human rights activists and experts in North Korean nukes to give special lectures on the issues to the NUAC council members in the city, and about 60 students of Emory University and Georgia Institute of Technology on March 5 at the Emory University.
Human rights activist David Hawk explained the background of the UN Resolution on the Situation of Human Rights in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK or North Korea) and establishment of the UN Commission of Inquiry. He is an adviser of the UN Commission of Inquiry and author of “Hidden Gulag,” which describes the reality of the political prisoners’ camps in North Korea.
The sudden collapse of the North Korean regime may cause political chaos. The unification of the Korean Peninsula should be achieved through stable and gradual opening of North Korea,” Prof. Woo Jong-seok of University of South Florida said in his lecture.
