Anyang Municipal Chapter (Head: Lee Sang-ho) held a discussion on the national unification issue last Oct. 15 at Anyang City Hall and invited 40 members of the Friendship Force Gerhard Hase Hanover Club, civilian diplomats of Germany and Friendship Force Seoul Club.  

The discussion proceeded with the subject of “The Yesterday and Today of German Unification: the Way of Peaceful Unification that the Republic of Korea Should Follow”, in which Advisor Lee Seok-bok compared and explained the national unification of Germany and Korea based on the cases of German unification. He emphasized that the most important thing for unification of the Korean Peninsula is to solve internal conflicts of South Korea and reinforce education for democratic citizens and national unification.      

Meanwhile, the municipal chapter arranged a tour last Sep. 25 to the Unification Observatory in Goseong, Gangwon-do and the villa of Kim Il-sung in Hwajinpo, the late dictator of North Korea, inviting 70 North Korean refugees and council members.
