  • Provincial Assemblies in metropolises and provinces held annual debate sessions on unification for college students with a view to arousing students' interest in national unification and helping students have a correct understanding of the inter-Korea issue.
    The Youth Committee of the Busan Provincial Assembly (Vice-chairperson : Kim Tae-won) held the session in the seminar room of Pukyong National University on May 29, with more than 100 people attending including students and young NUAC council members.
    During the session, Professor Nam Il-jae of Dongseo University gave a keynote lecture on the "Situation of the Korean Peninsula Following the North's Nuclear Tests and How We should Cope with It." Afterward, Professor Lee Hong-jong of Pukyong University made a presentation on the “Korean Peninsula Trust-Building Process and National Unification That Can Bring Happiness to Koreans.” After the lecture, the following students engaged in a debate: Shin Yong-won (BUFS), Lee Jae-chun (Pukyong), and Jeong Bo-ran (Pukyong).

  • On May 25, 2012, the Daegu Provincial Assembly (Vice-chairperson : Yun Byeong-hwan) held a college students' debate session on unification in the auditorium of the Daegu Branch of Hungsadan (Young Korean Academy).
    Kwak Bo-ram (Kyungpook Univ.) made a presentation on "Changes in the Situation on and around the Korean Peninsula and What Needs to be Done by South Korea." This was followed by other presentations given by Kwon Hye-jin (Kyungpook Univ.), Yun Jeong-geun (Keimyung Univ.), and Seo Jong-won (Kyungpook Univ.) on "Our Desirable Stance toward the North, Which is Behaving like a Spoiled Child," "Countermeasures against the North's Cyberterrorism," and "Process of Development of Markets in the North."
    Later, the following students engaged in a panel discussion on national unification: Park Chan-mok (Kyungpook Univ.), Han Ji-hun (Keimyung Univ.), Baek Min-gyeong (Yeungnam Univ.), and Lee Dong-uk (Kyungpook Univ.).
    On June 3, the Gwangju Provincial Assembly held a college students' debate session on unification at Chonnam National University on "College Students' View of National Unification and How to Invigorate Unification-related Discussions." At the debate session presided over by Professor Kim Jae-gi of Chonnam National University, Lee Hye-min (Chonnam National Univ. Department of Political Science and International Relations, senior) made a presentation. The following students then engaged in a panel discussion: Kim Ji-in (Chonnam National Univ. Department of Philosophy), Kim Hae-am (Chonnam National Univ. Department of Political Science and International Relations), and Jeon Sang-ho (Chonnam National Univ. Department of Bio Engineering).
    On May 25, the Ulsan Provincial Assembly (Vice-chairperson : Kim Cheol) held a college students' debate session on unification at the University of Ulsan on the "North's Nuclear Program and the New South Korean Government's North Korean Policy."
    The debate session, which was preceded by the keynote lecture given by Chairman Seo Dong-uk of the Ulsan City Council, was attended by more than 150 students. During the debate session, Kang Ji-hun (Univ. of Ulsan Department of Economics, junior) made a presentation on the "North's Nuclear Program and the Park Geun-hye Administration's North Korean Policy." His presentation was followed by a panel discussion by Seo Hyeon-ju, Lee Sang-yeop, and Kim Do-yeon.
