  • The Gangnam-gu members of the Women and Youth Standing Committees of the Seoul Municipal Chapter (Head : Kang Tae-seon), along with the NUAC council members and a few officers of the Gangnam Police Station, visited on February 7, 2013 a dormitory where 28 young North Korean refugees stayed to celebrate Lunar New Year with them. These people, who defected to the South without their families, made big bows to the visitors as is the custom on Lunar New Year and enjoyed the food brought by the visitors such as tteokguk (rice cake soup).
    Since parents usually give money to their children who made a big bow to them on Lunar New Year, the visitors gave the defectors gift certificates that could be used in traditional markets in return for the big bows made by the latter.
