2013 Policy Conference of National Youth Standing Committee Chiefs Held
The Policy Conference of the National Youth Standing Committee Chiefs was held at Cheonan Sangrok Hotel for two days beginning Sept. 24 to spread empathy for the government's unification policy dubbed "Korean Peninsula Trust-Building Process" and review the activities of the youth standing committee.
The policy conference was held under the theme of "Youth! Dream of Unification" and attended by Hyun Kyung-dae, Executive Vice-chairperson, Park Chan-bong, Secretary General, and 230 persons including the heads of the municipal chapters and chiefs of youth standing committees.
At the special lecture given by Mr. Hyun, Executive Vice-chairperson, he emphasized that strong will is required for the youth members to achieve national unification without fail. "Youth members should play the role of preacher to consolidate the interest and abilities of the people with regard to unification, based on correct recognition of national unification," he added.
The business plan of the Youth Committee was discussed actively during the group discussion session, and various fresh ideas were proposed such as "March to DMZ: the Belt of Peace," "Youth Members’ Academy for Unification Leadership," and "Unification and National Security Education at the Civil Defense Drill with Youth Members."
The youth committee chiefs agreed to promote the business more aggressively by giving shape to the new ideas suggested during the conference and building stronger relations with the youth committees of other areas.
During the local conference, organizing the "2030 Workshop for Council Members" -- to be held in October in each region -- was also decided.
