Inaugural Session to Launch the 16th Municipal Chapters in Dallas, Houston, and Denver held
The inaugural session to launch the overseas municipal chapters of the 16th National Unification Advisory Council in Dallas, Houston, and Denver was held to achieve the action plans and vision of the 16th Council.
A total of 380 persons participated in the inaugural session, which was held on Aug. 6 at Coyote Ridge Hotel. The Council members, Koreans living in the area, and officials of the Council's Dallas Office also attended.

Ahn Yeong-ho, Head of the Dallas Municipal Chapter, stressed in his opening speech that the unification of the Korean peninsula is not only an issue of Koreans but also affects the peace and stability of the world. Therefore, all members of the Dallas Municipal Chapter should have a sense of responsibility for the unification of our fatherland, he says.

A total of 150 persons -- including members and officials of the consulate office -- attended the conference held on Aug. 8 at Crown Plaza Hotel.

"The Houston Municipal Chapter will be made one through communication, and it will continuously study the method of achieving the peaceful unification of Korea," said Kwon Cheol-hee, Head of the Houston Municipal Chapter, in his opening speech. He also emphasized the importance of performing the duties given to each member to achieve the most desirable results for the Houston Municipal Chapter.

The meeting of executive members of the Houston Municipal Chapter was held before the inaugural session to discuss the action plan of the 16th Houston Municipal Chapter in depth.

The Denver Municipal Chapter of the 16th National Unification Advisory Council was launched on Aug. 10 at Inverness Hotel. A total of 60 persons attended the inaugural session, including members and overseas Koreans living in the area.

    Kim Un-sik, Secretariat Director of the National Unification Advisory Council, explained the action plan of the 16th Council to the members of the municipal chapters of Dallas, Houston, and Denver.
    He promised every possible support by the secretariat for the municipal chapters to promote the action plans of national unification satisfactorily and establish the Korean Peninsula Trust-Building Process in accordance with the government's policy.

    Following his previous lectures in Atlanta and Miami, Prof. Kim Yeong-soo of Sogang University gave a lecture for the members of the municipal chapters and overseas Koreans living in the Dallas, Houston, and Denver areas to understand the government's policy on national unification.
    He explained the background of the "Korean Peninsula Trust-Building Process" of the Park Geun-hye Administration and future subjects to promote and emphasized the need for the interest and participation of Korean communities overseas to ensure the success of the government's policy. The Council members and overseas Koreans attending the conference asked various questions about the policy and future prospects of South-North relations.
Executive members of the municipal chapters and overseas Koreans living in Dallas, Houston, and Denver were invited before the inaugural session to discuss the current issues of the municipal chapters and the action plan of the 16th Council.

The inaugural session to launch the municipal chapters in the southern region of North America (Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Houston, and Denver) was concluded with the completion of the Denver Municipal Chapter. The members of the municipal chapters got to have another opportunity to think about their roles in promoting the action plan of national unification and renew their commitment to realizing the peaceful unification of our fatherland.
