The Kyrgyzstan Branch (Head : Jeon Sang-jung) of the Central Asia Municipal Chapter held on June 11, 2013 a unification-related lecture session for college students at Bishkek Humanities University, with about 100 people attending including local students particularly ethnic Koreans.
During the lecture session on the “South’s Unification Policy and Unification of the Korean Peninsula,” attendees asked questions such as “Why is the South not giving aid to the North?” “When will the unification be possible?” or “What are stumbling blocks to the unification?”
Viscumtournaya Park in Sovietskaya and Moskovskaya Streets in Bishkek, where the event was held, was renamed Gumi Park after the city in Gyeongsangbuk-do during a ceremony attended by about 100 people including Korean Ambassador Kim Chang-gyu in Kyrgyzstan, Head Jeon Sang-jung of the Kyrgyzstan Branch, Head Valerie Choi of the Korean-Kyrgyzstan Association, Chairperson Song Gi-ung of the Korean Association, Head Choi Byeong-seong of the Gumi Municipal Chapter, NUAC members, and officials of Gumi City.
