The Chicago Chapter (head: Lee Moon-gyu) of the US held the Lunar New Year Festival on February 4 for sharing at the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago by inviting North Korean defectors living in the Chicago region.

In the Lunar New Year Festival for sharing, which was attended by around 50 people including around 30 North Korean defectors, families, and officials of NUAC, scholarships were given to a total of 13 North Korean defector students. A total of 12 North Korean defectors were also gifted with gift cards and living appliances.

Notably, the event was attended by Sister Lim Sun-yun of Korean Martyrs’ Catholic Church and Lee Ji-hoon, head of missionaries, who provided 1 bag of rice and gift cards to North Korean defectors. Calligrapher Lee Chul-woo expressed the wish for peaceful unification through a calligraphy performance with the writing “Peaceful unification where 80 million people become happy.”
