The Seo-gu Municipal Chapter (head: Oh Se-cheol) of Gwangju hosted the “2nd South-North Korea Traditional Food and Culture Exchange Event with North Korean Defectors” at the Institute of Traditional Namdo Food on December 2 with the participation of around 50 people, including council members and North Korean defectors.

This event included various programs like demonstration of South Korean food (baramtteok rice cake) by Lee Eun-kyoung, Director of the Institute of Traditional Namdo Food, and North Korean food (rice with tofu, pollack soup) by North Korean defectors, experience by participants, round-table talk on the topic of “Joint Preparation for Unification,” and “Writing One-Line Thoughts on Unification.”

The Seo-gu Municipal Chapter of Gwangju has hosted the traditional food and culture exchange event since last year to overcome the sense of difference between North Korean defectors settling in the city and local residents.
