Австралия, 2013-08-29 |
Australia Municipal Chapter (Head: Lee Suk-jin) held an academic seminar on current social trends of North Korea last Aug. 29 at UTS University’s Marian Hall in Sydney, Australia under the presence of David Palmer, chairman of the Australia-Korea Foundation, scholars of Korean Peninsula issues, press, council members and leaders of Korean communities in the country.
The seminar was held jointly with the Cosmopolitan Civil Society Institute of UTS University and Prof. Andrei Lankov of Kookmin University, Prof. Kim Seok-hyang of Ewha Womans University, Prof. Leonid Petrov of Australian National University, Prof. Bron Windalton of UTS University and Jeong Kyung-ja of UTS University, who all presented on their subjects in relation to the unification of the Korean Peninsula.
They raised opinions saying, “It is clear that economic, social and cultural changes are accelerated in North Korea but it may not result in the collision of Kim Jung-eun’s regime”.
Australian society is paying more attention to North Korean refugees but they cannot only hold the position of international refugees since they also experience extreme difficulties when they are classified as illegal immigrants.
