Home country visiting training for Korean youths living in Japan, seeks the vision of unification of Korea and role of Korean youths living in Japan
The support and unity of Koreans living in foreign countries are the driving force for overcoming the nuclear and missile provocation by North Korea and opening the era of unification
The home country visiting training for Korean youths living in Japan was held at Seoul Olympic Parktel on September 22-25 and hosted by the Korea Youth Association in Japan, with around 300 Korean youths living in Japan participating.
  • Executive Vice-chairperson Yoo Ho-yeol gives a lecture on “the vision of unification of Korea and the role of Korean youths living in Japan”

Through his lecture on “the vision of unification of Korea and the role of Korean youths living in Japan” on September 24, NUAC Executive Vice-president Yoo Ho-yeol noted that Koreans living in Japan have contributed the most to the development of South Korea by entering the Korean War as volunteer army, making investments during the Miracle of Hangang River, supporting the Saemaeul Movement, and making donations for the 1988 Summer Olympics and during the IMF crisis. “With these as foundation, South Korea, amid the ruins of the Korean War and through the Miracle of Hangang River, became the sole country to transition from being a beneficiary of aid to donor after the Second World War,” he added.
  • Home country visiting training for Korean youths living in Japan, seeks the vision of unification of Korea and role of Korean youths living in Japan Executive Vice-president Yoo compared and contrasted the core reason for South Korea’s prosperity and North Korea’s failure and stressed that it lies in the difference in the state system. “North Korea follows the system of leader-centered, closed planned economy, and it is referred to as the country committing the worst human rights violations through public execution and is under chronic sanctions by the United Nations due to the combat arrangement of nuclear weapons. In contrast, South Korea follows a liberal, democratic, open economy, respects the universal value of humanity, and cooperates for world peace through activities such as PKO,” he explained.

According to him, the 5th nuclear test, which causes crisis, will only bring about intensive sanctions imposed by the international society and isolation, and the time of unification may come earlier than expected if the restraint against North Korea gets extended due to a fatal blow to the overall system of North Korea, which could be inferred considering the increasing instability of Kim’s power owing to the execution of 100 executives under Kim Jong-un’s reign of terror and continuous occurrence of seeking asylum such as the case of Thae Yong-ho, former North Korea’s deputy ambassador to the United Kingdom.
“Unification is a second opportunity for a big leap for Koreans, and we need to overcome the three misconstructions: ‘The North will not give up nuclear weapons’; ‘The North will not change’, and; ‘Unification cannot be fulfilled with our own hands’,” he stressed, urging the overseas Korean youths to take the lead in solving issues of North Korea’s nuclear and human rights for the sake of unification.
