The Gumi Municipal Chapter (head: Kim Cheol-ho) of Gyeongsangbuk-do hosted the “Unification Age Civic Class” at the Community Credit Cooperative lecture hall in Hyeonggok on December 2.

North Korean defector and instructor Gwon Seol-gyeong, who gave a lecture on the topic of “Reality in North Korea and Our Happiness” in the first class, drew the attention of the participants by telling a story of life in North Korea and the details of escaping from North Korea and settling in South Korea.

In the second class that followed, Doctor Lee Soo-suk, researcher of the Institute of National Security Strategy, gave a lecture on the topic of “Recent Situation in North Korea and Our Policy on Unification.” According to Doctor Lee, it is uncertain whether North Korean citizens would want unification with South Korea if the division continues much longer. "It is worrisome that they might be keener on integration with China rather than unification with us," he added.
