The Gunwi Municipal Chapter (head: Goo Bon-gook) of Gyeongsanbuk-do hosted a citizen class for the time of unification on September 8 at the Gun-wi civic center, with around 180 people in attendance including council members and residents. 

In his lecture titled “Recent changes in North Korean society and preparation for a unified Korea,” Yoon Yeo-sang, director of the North Korean Human Rights Record Archives Center, said that a small unified Korea was already achieved with the entry of 30,000 North Korean defector residents. “The beauty of waiting is required in order to have them adapt to South Korean society and to prepare for unification,” he added.

Next, North Korean defector lecturer Lee Soon-sil, who gave a lecture on the topic “Thank you to Korea,” delivered stories about her defection and remarked how unfortunate the reality of North Korean residents and the divided situation are.

Meanwhile, Nam Gyung-joo, a police squad officer of Gunwi-gun, wrote a tetrastich with the word “NUAC.” He was awarded for writing “Unification is the best method for both South and North Korea to live equally without any worries by becoming a unified master of the Korean Peninsula through democratic, peaceful unification.”
