The Yeongdong Municipal Chapter (head: Jeong Won-young) of Chungcheongbuk-do held the 71st anniversary ceremony of National Liberation Day on August 15 at Yeongdong Gymnasium to relive the patriotic spirit of patriotic martyrs for the country and pray for the peaceful unification of North and South Koreas.

In the celebration ceremony, many heads from social institutions and groups, bereaved families of independence patriots, Yeongdong-gun residents, and students participated in the ceremony, which kicked off with an opening address followed by the reading of congratulatory poem, chanting of the national liberation day song, giving of three cheers, and celebration performance.

The celebration ceremony of Korean Liberation Day hosted by the Yeongdong Municipal Chapter for the first time was also held together with other events such as folding paper to make a rose of Sharon to be attached to the Korean Peninsula map and the national flag of Korea (Taegeukgi) as well as distributing Taegeukgi to participants to celebrate Korean independence and spend a happy and meaningful time.

In addition, Park Se-bok, governor of Yeongdong-gun, and Jeong Won-yong, head of the chapter, and many members of the Restoration Society had a worship ceremony at the memorial tower of independence patriots prior to the official celebration ceremony.
