The Nowon-gu Municipal Chapter (head: Shin Hae-doo) of Seoul held a completion ceremony for teenage North Korean defectors who graduated from the “Mentoring and Education Support Program for Teenage North Korean Defectors” at the Small Lecture Hall in Nowon-gu Office, July 7, 4:00pm.

The program’s final lecture was held under the theme of “Hallyu music enjoyed together.” Musical actor Yoo Jeong-eun introduced various aspects of global Hallyu (Korean wave) and had a sing-along with students at the event.

The program, themed “The First Step to Unification! Let’s Take It Together,” was held for over six sessions from April 21 to July 7 for 14 North Korean elementary school student defectors living in the area. The education support program provided various activities and mentoring sessions to help students learn and adjust to life in South Korea, including lessons on basic English vocabulary and standard Korean.
