The Shenyang Chapter, China (head of the Chapter: Ahn Cheong-rak) of the NUAC (National Unification Advisory Council) held the 17th Inaugural Session at Hotel Sofitel Shenyang at 4:00pm, August 21, 2015 (Fri.).

The session was participated by 107 people including Hyun Kyung-dae, Executive Vice-chairperson of the NUAC, Lee Chang-ho, Vice-chairperson of the China Chapter, Shin Bong-seop, South Korean Consul General to Shenyang, Ahn Cheong-rak, head of the China Chapter, council members of the Shenyang Chapter and Koreans living in Shenyang.

The 1st program of the session included an introductory video on the 17th inaugural session, letter of appointment to the new council members, a plaque of appreciation to the former head of the 16th Shenyang Chapter (Former head of the Chapter Kim Seong-ung and Secretary Hwang Seong-uk), video message from the South Korean President, report on the direction for the activities of the NUAC, appointment of new council members of the Shenyang Chapter and report on project promotion plan.

The 2nd program of the session involved a special lecture on the unification of Korea by Executive Vice-chairperson Hyun Kyung-dae, cultural performance and a chorus of the unification.

Executive Vice-chairperson Hyun Kyung-dae gave letters of appointment to the new council members of the 17th Shenyang Chapter in place of the South Korean President who is the Chairperson.

Council members Bae Hong-cheol and Jang Hye-su read the oath by representing the 17th Shenyang Chapter, and all the council members present at the session repeated the oath after them.

Shin Bong-seon, South Korean Consul General to Shenyang, gave a congratulatory speech and urged the council members to play an active role in brining harmony to the Korean community and achieving the unification of Korea since the three provinces in the northeastern part of China are a location of strategic importance in forming the Silk Road Economic Belt and reform and opening of North Korea.

Dong Seung-cheol, Director of Foreign Regions, submitted reports titled 'The Role and Function of the NUAC', 'The Goals and Objectives of the 17th NUAC Activities' and 'Important Projects of Overseas Chapters in the Second Half of the Year 2015' in order to help the council members of the 17th NUAC better understand their role and activities.

In his lection on the unifiation of Korea, Executive Vice-chairperson Hyun Kyung-dae highly praised the challenging and pioneering spirit of the council members and other Koreans having started a new life in a country where they had no ties, and the history of Korean immigrants is relatively short between 40 and 50 years. He stressed that the unification of Korea will be like hitting a jackpot and it's something that must be accomplished in this era. He also urged the council members and Koreans living in the area to build an amicable relationship between South Korea and China so that the Chinese people and government can support the unification of Korea and bring harmony to the Korean community.

In the last part of the inaugural session, all the attendees held hands together and sang the 'Song of Unification' to show their will to achieve the peaceful unification of Korea.
