  • NUAC, National Police Agency Sign MOU to Support the Settlement of North Korean Refugees
NUAC (Secretary General: Park Chan-bong) and the National Police Agency (Commissioner General: Lee Sung-han) signed an MOU to support the settlement of North Korean refugees during a signing ceremony held last March 21 at the conference room of the Agency.
On the occasion of concluding an MOU by and between the two government organizations, cooperative systems between the central office and local organizations are built to provide the basis for promoting programs to support the settlement of North Korean refugees. They agreed to promote 5 programs first: ①mentoring for young North Korean refugees; ② legal counseling support; ③ employment support; ④ scholarship support; ⑤ medical service.
At the signing ceremony for the MOU supporting the settlement of 26,000 North Korean refugees in South Korea, NUAC Secretary General Park Chan-bong said that national unification has come to us in advance. Two organizations should prepare themselves for a happy era of unification by helping North Korean refugees who embody "the unification coming in advance" settle successfully in our society as soon as possible.
"The Police Agency has not only been protecting but also promoting support programs for them, yet support by the Police Agency has been limited. I hope the Police Agency and its officers responsible for security as well as the 20,000 members of NUAC across the country will exert efforts to build with us a system for supporting North Korean refugees," said Lee Sung-han, Commissioner General of the National Police Agency.
