Roles of Executive Members in Preparation for National Unification

The workshop for branch chapter heads and secretaries was held on Aug. 12 and 13 at Daejeon Useong Hotel to share the roles of the executive member and revitalize the operation of the municipal chapters by enhancing their steering ability.

A total of 290 branch chapter heads and secretaries attended the event to share the action plan and roles of the 16th National Unification Advisory Council and lead the activities for unification by expanding their roles in preparation for national unification.
  • Workshop for Branch Chapter Heads and Secretaries of the 16th Council HeldPark Seong-bae, Vice-chairperson of the Daejon Municipal Chapter, said in his opening speech that the executive members would lead the people in understanding the government policy of the Korean Peninsula Trust-Building Process better, and that they would be more faithful in the fulfillment of their roles and activities.
  • Workshop for Branch Chapter Heads and Secretaries of the 16th Council HeldDuring his special lecture, Prof. Yoo Ho-yeol of Korea University said that the keynote of the government's policy for unification and North Korea is harmony and balance with which the people can sympathize and which can be implemented. “We should build the foundation of peace and unification of the Korean peninsula by maintaining strong national security, international cooperation, and national consensus," he added.

    Park Chan-bong, Secretary General said in his welcoming speech that executive members of the municipal chapters are actually leading organizations in efforts for peaceful unification. Therefore, they should have a sense of mission to unify the country with pride since national unification is the most important agenda that we should achieve as soon as possible, he says.
  • Workshop for Branch Chapter Heads and Secretaries of the 16th Council Held Shin Eun-sook, Director of Unification Policy Advisory Bureau, explained the "Guidelines for Performing Duties" together with the rules of operating the business of unification, various meetings, and action plans of the 16th National Unification Advisory Council. Such explanation in detail was helpful in enhancing the administrative ability of the executive members.

Group discussions were organized by 16 cities and provinces on the last day of the conference. They exchanged ideas on how to operate the municipal chapters and collect public opinions on national unification more efficiently and support North Korean defectors.

Crescendo, a singing group composed of 4 college students belonging to the National Unification Club in Daejon City, sing "Red Evening Glow" for the attendants in the workshop.
Park Chan-bong, Secretary General of the Council, hosts a dinner for the attendants on the first day of the workshop.

On the second day of the workshop, Kim Yeong-sul, director of the Korea Leadership Research Institute, gave a lecture on the "Technique to Make Touching and Convincing Speeches," which was helpful in improving the administrative ability of the executive members. The group discussion on the second day summarized what was discussed on the previous day. The attendants also watched their activities during the workshop on the screen.
