The Women’s Standing Committee (chief: Kim Hyun-mi) of Nam-gu Municipal Chapter (head: Park Dong-cheon) of Busan hosted the “2016 women's unification round-table talk” at the Nam-gu Office in the morning of November 22 with around 60 female council members and members of Nam-gu Women’s’ Council in attendance.

The unification round-table talk began with unification dialogues by Professor Gang Dong-wan of Dong-A University and Cha Go-eun, a lecturer who defected from North Korea. Regarding the topic “Settlement of North Korean defectors in South Korea and role of women,” Professor Gang Dong-wan emphasized that integration and cultural consensus among people are important in the process of unifying the Korean Peninsula. Lecturer Cha Go-eun introduced North Korea’s social aspects that are being newly changed, such as the culture of Hallyu in North Korean society, and urged women to engage in activities of preparing for unification, such as becoming mothers to female North Korean defectors.
