The Cheorwon-gun Municipal Chapter (head: Hyun Tae-sub) of Gangwon-do held the “19th Hoping for Peaceful Unification, DMZ Walking Tournament” on June 10 around the Cheorwon-eup area where the old Labor Party Office of North Korea and Baengmagoji Battlefield is situated and which holds painful memories of the Korean War.

Over 500 people along with adolescents, local residents, and council members participated in the walking tournament where Hyun Tae-sub, head of the Cheorwon-gun Municipal Chapter, held a large Korean flag and led the 10km round-trip walk starting from the old North Korean Labor Party office, through the DMZ mining fields, to the Baengmagoji Battlefield.

Starting with the traditional percussion quartet performance, a rally in the hope of the termination of the North Korean Nuclear Program and Peaceful Unification was held, followed by the mine-field walking tournament that enabled people to experience the pain of a divided nation and inspired hope for peaceful unification.
