The Yeongdeungpo-gu Chapter of Seoul, Korea organized a lecture for unification on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of independence on Sept. 14 at the Yeongdeungpo Art Center. A total of 700 people attended including Jo Gil-hyung, mayor of the district, Kwon Young-se, former Korean ambassador to China, and North Korean refugees and local residents. 

Park Chan-bong, Secretary General of NUAC, gave a special lecture titled “How should we prepare ourselves for national unification?“ According to him, preparation for unification is one of the key subjects of NUAC. “We have been promoting its localization and internationalization as it shapes up in terms of details.

NUAC and its members should play the role of a path leading the establishment of a bond of sympathy among the people and government and preparation for unification. It should be made known to the people, and our experience in administering a local self-government should be transferred to North Korea. NUAC members and overseas Koreans in 117 countries across the world should make efforts for the preparation for unification of their motherland divided into two,“ he stressed.
