Hyun Kyung-dae, Executive Vice-Chairperson of the National Unification Advisory Council, emphasized the role and activities of overseas council members at his special lecture

 

All the inaugural sessions of 43 overseas municipal chapters of 16th NUAC (National Unification Advisory Council) completed by establishing Middle East Municipal Chapter on Oct. 6.
The first overseas municipal chapter was inaugurated on July 11 in Qingdao, China, followed by the U.K. Municipal Chapter on Sep. 28, the North Europe Municipal Chapter on Oct. 1, the South Europe Municipal Chapter on Oct. 4 and the Middle East Municipal Chapter on Oct. 6, respectively.


Hyun Kyung-dae, Executive Vice-chairperson, attended the inaugural sessions in Europe to presented Letters of Designation to the council members, heads of the municipal chapters and other senior members on behalf of the Chairperson, President Park Geun-hye.


Hyun explained the national unification vision and the Korean Peninsula Trust-Building Process of Park Geun-hye’s Administration at his special lecture. He said that President Park’s four keynotes of government administration such as “economic revival, people’s happiness, cultural prosperity and building the foundation for a peaceful unification” imply a strong will to realize a peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula and therefore, all the council members should support the government policy actively and devotedly. Hyun also said, “The 16th NUAC established 3 more overseas provincial assemblies including the Europe Assembly to reinforce the capabilities of national unification overseas and increase the number of overseas municipal chapters and council members”. 
He emphasized that overseas council members should strengthen their civilian diplomatic activities for national unification based upon a correct understanding on the inter-Korean policy and unification of the Korean government and pour their efforts to proliferate the international sympathy for the unification of two Koreas.  

Meanwhile, Hyun Kyung-dae had press conferences in London and Paris while he was attending the inauguration sessions in Europe and he requested more positive support of Korean embassies to the countries concerned for the unification activities of the overseas council members. He alslo invited senior overseas Koreans living in Dusseldorf, Germany, who had been dispatched to Germany several decades ago as mine workers and nurses, to comfort them and listen to their opinions. They shared with Hyun some of the hardships of some senior mine workers and nurses and asked for the support and concern of the Korean government.
