[2016 Conference of Chiefs of Municipal and Provincial Women's Committees ]
- In-depth discussion including the direction of women’s businesses in 2016 -
On January 13, the National Unification Advisory Council (hereafter “the NUAC”) held the Conference of the Chiefs of the Women's Committees of 17 cities and provinces, with the participation of Secretary General Park Chan-bong, female Vice-chairperson Kim Tae-hyun, director of the Council Member Activities Bureau Shin Eun-sook, and chiefs of the Women's Committees from 17 cities and provinces. The members discussed in-depth directions for “women’s business in 2016” and detailed implementation plans.
In his opening speech Secretary General Park Chan-bong emphasized that “Because we have Women's Committee in every city and province, and at every level including city, county and district, the role of the Women's Committee as a national-level organization is crucial.” He also called for the active and creative participation of the committee, and urged it to play a leading role in facilitating unification capabilities through collaboration with local governments and organizations related to national unification, and other women’s organizations.
Subsequently, Shin Eun-sook, director of the Council Member Activities Bureau, reported on the strategic direction for business for women in 2016 and the related implementation plan at the national, municipal/provincial, and city, county and district levels.
During the general discussion hour hosted by female Vice-chairperson Kim Tae-hyun, the detailed implementation plan for projects for women and specialized projects for 2016 were discussed, along with talks on the Policy Conference for Chiefs of the National Women's Standing Committees, which is due to be held on January 25- 26 at the Commodore Hotel Busan.
Kim Suk-young, Chief of the Gangwon Women's Committee, stated that the conference “presented a valuable opportunity for us to share the implementation plans of business for women for 2016 and benchmark the best practices from each region,” and promised to promote more vigorous unification activities in the region.
