Hyun Kyung-dae, Executive Vice-chairperson of NUAC, Urges North Korea to Abandon Nuke and Follow Reformation and Opening
NUAC held a unification lecture in Vladivostok, Russia on Oct. 27 on the with Hyun Kyung-dae, Executive Vice-chairperson of NUAC, in attendance.
“When North Korea abandons nuclear weapons and selects the policy of reformation and opening just like the cases of Russia and China, the Eurasian continent will be transformed into One Continent, Continent of Creation, and Continent of Peace that communicates with the Southern economy through the Korean peninsula and takes care of more than 90% of the world economy.
The Unification Bonanza asserted by President Park Geun-hye of South Korea is a ’global agenda’ contributing not only to peace and prosperity in Northeast Asia and all of Asia but also the entire world. The unification of the Korean peninsula in particular will be a decisive momentum for developing the Far East region of Russia where Vladivostok belongs,“ he explained. ”
According to Hyun, the key factor of the Eurasia Initiative suggested by President Park is the Silk Road Express penetrating the Eurasia Continent and Korean Peninsula. When the 21st century silk road starts in Busan, South Korea and goes on to Seoul, Pyeongyang, North Korea's capital city, Wonsan, Vladivostok, Siberia, and Ural Mountains and connects with the Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea, the quality of life of the world will surely improve considerably, he added.
He cited as an example Xingdao City of China, which was transformed into an industrial city from a small fishery village thanks to the South Korean companies associated with overseas Koreans in the area after South Korea and China established diplomatic ties in 1992. “If the overseas Koreans living in the Maritime Province of Siberia cooperate with the South Korean companies, it will contribute greatly not only to developing the economy in the area but also strengthening the relations between South Korea and Russia,” he said.
A total of 120 persons including council members in the Maritime Province of Siberia, overseas Koreans in the area, and professors and students of Koreanology of the Far East University of Russia Federation attended the lecture on the unification of the Korean peninsula.
