The Committee of Humanitarian Support and Human Rights (Chief: Je Seong-ho) with its 33 members visited Hanawon last Oct. 23 to donate an electronic piano. Hanawon is an office that helps North Korean refugees settle down in South Korea (President: Kim Hyung-seok) and learn how to adapt themselves in South Korea.

"Our visit to Hanawon will help us in becoming true neighbors of North Korean refugees and help them settle in our society successfully," said Chief Je Seong-ho.

In the afternoon, the committee members paid a visit to "Sapkyo Lake Fleet Park,” a theme park with navy war ships and the first of its kind in Asia, to experience the history and culture of Korea Marine Corps. They spent a valuable time, realizing the importance of national security and peaceful unification.

Committee members visited the Dangjin Coal-Fired Power Complex (Director: Kuk Jung-yang) of Korea East-West Power Company, which has been supplying electric power stably to the capital city region. Power plant is regarded as one of the national security industrial estates.

Korea East-West Power Company operates 5 power plants in Dangjin, Ulsan, Yeosu, Donghae, and Ilsan. Dangjin Coal-Fired Power Complex is the biggest among the five and is known to be the most beautiful in the world. The power plant contributes considerably to the development of local communities, including donation for the project promoted by the Dangjin Municipal Chapter (Head: Lee Hong-geun) of Chungcheongnam-do to build the Tower of Peaceful Unification. Moreover, it has been donating scholarships to students living in the area since 1994. So far, ₩3.4 billion has been donated to 7,850 students of elementary, middle, and high schools and university in the area.
