第16期民主平和統一諮問会議青島協議会の発足会議開催

The Qingdao Municipal Chapter (Head: Lee Seok-jae) of the 16th National Unification Advisory Council (Executive Vice-chairperson: Hyun Kyung-dae, Secretary General: Park Chan-bong) was launched on July 11 at Qingdao Holiday Inn.
  • Inaugural Session to launch of the Qingdao Municipal ChapterA total of 120 persons celebrated the launch of the Qingdao Municipal Chapter including Hyun Kyung-dae, Executive Vice-chairperson of the council, Consul General Hwang Seung-hyun to Qingdao, Lee Hun-bok, Vice-chairperson of the China Municipal Chapter, Lee Seok-jae, Head of the Qingdao Municipal Chapter, and other leaders of the Korean community in the area.
    During the first part of the inaugural session, letters of designation were presented, with the action plan of the 16th National Unification Advisory Council reported. Prof. Yoo Ho-yeol gave a special lecture on "Park Geun-hye Administration’s inter-Korean policy" in the second part of the inaugural session.

On behalf of the President, Hyun, Executive Vice-chairperson of the Council, presented the letter of designation to Lee Seok-jae, Head of Qingdao Municipal Chapter, Baek Seong-ho, Secretary, and Kang Jong-kyu and Ko Eun-hee who represented the other members.

    "The Qingdao Municipal Chapter, on its second term, will promote the unification movement focusing on the Korean students in the area to draw their interest in national unification and participation in the movement. Likewise, we will exert our best efforts to promote the government’s policy of peaceful unification and strengthen the friendship between Korea and China," Lee Seok-jae, reassigned Head of the Qingdao Municipal Chapter, said in his opening speech.

    According to Lee Hun-bok, Vice-chairperson of the China Municipal Chapter, China is important for Korea historically and geographically. He asked the members to promote the public opinion that the unification of the Korean Peninsula is beneficial to China and Northeast Asia.

    "Specifying the ‘Building of foundation of peaceful unification’ in the four keynotes of government administration indicates the strong will of the Chairperson of the Council toward national unification. I ask the Qingdao Municipal Chapter and its members to maximize the achievements of President Park's visit to China and support the government's consistent policy toward the North with profound understanding and mind. Likewise, may you make your best efforts to spread empathy for national unification to the overseas Koreans and North Korean compatriots staying in China to realize free travel between South and North and peaceful unification particularly unification based on freedom and democracy," said Hyun, Executive Vice-chairperson of the Council, in his greetings.
Consul General Hwang expressed his appreciation for the launching of the Tsingdao Committee of the 16th National Unification Advisory Council and asked the participants to try to gather the wisdom and energy of compatriots in the new age of hope for the peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula. He also emphasized that national unification should be based on the trust process of the peninsula and denuclearization.

Consul General Hwang expressed his appreciation for the launching of the Qingdao Municipal Chapter of the 16th National Unification Advisory Council and asked the participants to try to gather the wisdom and energy of compatriots in the new age of hope for the peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula. He also emphasized that national unification should be based on the trust process of the peninsula and denuclearization.
Before the inaugural session, Hyun and his delegation visited "Hanil Precision Company" on July 10 to encourage the Korean businessmen operating in Qingdao.
