The displaced people participated in the nostalgic ceremony on this day for their grandparents, parents, and siblings, heartbroken over being unable to go home even when it is so close but with the most fervent hope for a quick, peaceful unification.
After the ceremony, they watched the "World Peace Bell" made from empty shells used in the Korean War and shells collected from regions of conflict from around the world.
According to the Siheung Municipal Chapter, the nostalgic ceremony was held in order to support the government policy of harmony and solidarity as the social pivot of the 5 Provinces of North Korea Inhabitants society as well as to prepare for an era of unification as a pivotal indicator of national unification.
