The Pyeongchang Municipal Chapter (Head: Kim Young-hae) of Gangwon-do hosted the National Speech Contest for the Hope of Peaceful Unification and Memory of Lee Seungbok on October 13 at the Lee Seungbok Memorial Hall in Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do, with around 300 people in attendance including Park Yong-seong, vice-chairperson of the Gangwon Municipal Chapter, Shim Jae-gook, mayor of Pyeongchang, and Kim Young-hae, head of the Pyeongchang Municipal Chapter, along with other provincial chapter heads and directors of various institutions and organizations in addition to local residents.
At this speech contest themed "Spreading the spirit of patriot boy Lee Seungbok, our attitude for the hosting of peaceful Olympics and for peaceful unification," 32 contestants from around the nation who had passed the preliminary rounds in the elementary, middle, and high school, university, and general categories participated.
At the contest, Oh Ji-eun (Namsung Middle School in Chungcheongbuk-do, 1st Grade), who showed her excellent speech skills with a speech titled "What we have done," won the overall grand prize.
