The Southwest Asia Chapter (head: Um Kyung-ho) held “the Music Festival in Celebration of the 71st Korean Liberation Day and Peaceful Unification” at the auditorium of the British School in Colombo, Sri Lanka on August 13.
The music festival was held successfully with 450 attendees including Jang Won-sam, Korean Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Gwak Hong-gyu, president of the Korean Association in Sri Lanka, Shim Sang-man, head of the India Branch, Youn Hee, head of the Bangladesh Branch, and many Korean residents.
The music festival, which was prepared with music containing the hope of unification, invoked the fever of unification as it presented a music performance by Sri Lanka's Korean musicians and Marine Band of Sri Lanka as well as an invitation performance by violinists (Ahn Eun-jin and Irene) from Korea. The audience in the festival sang the song “Our Wish” while waving the Korean flag in the finale, ending the music festival successfully.
In addition, the India Branch (head: Shim Sang-man) held a music festival to celebrate the 71st Korean Liberation Day on August 17 at the Chennai Music Academy in India. A total of 550 participants including Koreans and Korean residents attended this music festival, which ended successfully. According to branch head Shim Sang-man, India's National Liberation Day was also August 15, which was the same as Korea's. He also expressed his gratitude to the local residents for their considerable interest in the music festival.
