The Gwacheon Municipal Chapter (head: Lee Soon-hyung) of Gyeonggi-do held its third week of lectures at the Youth Leadership for Unification Academy on July 14. Ma Seok-hoon, head of “Our House,” the community house for teenage North Korean defectors, gave a lecture titled “A Unified Korea: Not for the sake of Goodwill but Coexistence.” Shin Chang-min, honorary professor at Chung-Ang University and pioneer of the concept “unification bonanza,” gave lectures under the theme “Unification is a Bonanza, and Unification Bonanza is a Blessing.”
The second week of academy lectures took place at the Grand Lecture Hall in Gwacheon City Hall on July 7. The second round started with a lecture by Kang Cheol-hwan, head of the North Korea Strategy Center and former prisoner at North Korea’s Yodok Concentration Camp for political prisoners, followed by a lecture titled “Legal Challenges for a Unified Korea: From the Perspective of a German Expert on Unification” by Choi Gi-sik, chief prosecutor at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office and legal expert on unification.
The first round of academy lectures on June 30 opened with lectures on “Republic of Korea: Past, Present, and Future” and “Current Conditions of and Education for Teenage North Korean Defectors” by Kim Myung-soo, vice director of the Institute for Peace Affairs, and Koh Sun-ah, teacher at Hangyeore High School, respectively.
