  • Seattle Municipal Chapter holds prize-awarding ceremony for essay-writing contest on visiting the homeland
  • The Seattle Municipal Chapter (Head : Oh Jun-geol) held on November 8, 2012 a prize-awarding ceremony for the essay-writing contest on visiting the homeland at the Federal Way Ko-Am TV Radio in Federal Way, Washington. The essays on visiting our fatherland were written by Korean-American students who took part in the program. The ceremony was attended by more than 100 people, including the students and their parents as well as NUAC council members, members of the student association of the University of Washington, and representatives of Korean American associations.
    The Grand Prize was given to Eunice Lee (an undergraduate of UW). Gold prizes were given to Bae Ha-rim, Mun Gi-byeok, Kang Gyeong-jin, and Jo Su-jin.
    At the event, the young prize-winning essayists presented their essays. A collection of the 27 essays submitted to the contest was published under the title of "My Motherland Korea."
    The event of sending 40 high school students and undergraduates to Korea for a 5-night/6-day schedule was held in June and July this year under the sponsorship of the Seattle Municipal Chapter. They paid visits to the DMZ and industrial facilities with the cooperation of the government of the home country.
