The Mongolian branch of the Northen Counsel of Southeast Asia hosted the “Singing festival for the unification of the Korean peninsula” to create a friendly atmosphere, promoting Korea-Mongolia relation and to share the necessity of unification in the Mongolian society, on December 5th at the Ulaanbaatar Phil Harmony Concert Hall.
The Embassy of Mongolia in Korea and the Korean Association in Mongolia fundraised and supported the festival. A total of 500 people of 21 teams, three with Korean residents and 18 with Mongolians participated, and the Mongol Ruby team was granted the 1st prize.
Jo Yun-kyung, a council member, explained that, “2,500 South Koreans and 2,000 North Koreans currently reside in Mongolia,” and pointed out that, “Singing songs while praying for unification of the Korean peninsula in Mongolia has a significant meaning.”
