Toronto – “Peace and Harmony Day”
Toronto, 2015-09-12

The Toronto Municipal Chapter of Canada (head: Choi Jin-hak) held 'the Peace and Harmony Day' on Sept. 12 at the Korea Center in Toronto on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of Independence, wishing for the peace of Korea and the world.

Overseas Koreans in the city and other Asian immigrants attended the event with great interest.  The first part of the event involved 'Experience History' for the young generation. The 1.5 and 2nd generations of Korean immigrants to Canada could understand the sorrow of losing one’s fatherland, suppression, and brutality of Japanese imperialism against Koreans.

A cultural performance was presented during the second part of the event to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Independence. The One-Korea Arts Group played traditional Korean music, followed by Chinese traditional dance.

A total of 200 overseas Koreans and local people attended the event to have an opportunity to understand the suppression and brutality of Japanese imperialism against the surrounding countries during World War II, based on understanding and knowledge of the war.
