The Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly (Vice-chairperson: Hae-jin Park) held a concert for peaceful unification at Gyeonggi Arts Center on August 14, 2015 to reflect on the meanings of the 70th anniversary of Korea's independence.
Over 1,600 people including local residents and council members attended the concert. Popular singers Joo Hyeon-mi and Seol Woon-do, baritone Kim Dong-gyu and Western Symphony Orchestra, and Gyeonggi Junior Chorus sang and played music that depicted the joy, sorrows, sufferings, delight, and dreams of a bright future of the unified Korean Peninsula based on four themes: Japanese colonial rule, Korean War, miracle of Hangang River, and yearning for peaceful unification.

"It’s not just a music concert but a storytelling concert that weaves the sorrows and sighs of the Korean people into songs and stories,” said Vice-chairperson Hae-jin Park.
