“Youth will lead the unification era in the Korean Peninsula!”
The Policy Conference for Chiefs of the Youth Standing Committees was held on February 16-17 at the Hotel Riviera Yuseong to plan this year’s NUAC youth program.
Among the participants were Executive Vice-chairperson Yoo Ho-yeol, Secretary General Bae Jung-ho, the national chiefs of the Youth Committees, Youth Standing Committees, and 200 representative members of the Youth Council.

Executive Vice-chairperson Yoo Ho-yeol declared, “This meeting is being held amid the national crisis caused by North Korea’s fourth nuclear test.”
He went on to explain, “The government has closed the Gaeseong Industrial Complex, and made the agonizing decision to resolve the North Korean nuclear issue by strengthening the international sanctions against it and laying the groundwork for peaceful unification."
Furthermore, Executive Vice-chairperson Yoo highly appreciated the united potential of the NUAC, including a series of actions such as the relay of one-man protests, emphasized the Youth Council members “as a valuable asset for overcoming the crisis caused by the North Korean nuclear issue and achieving peaceful unification,” and asked them to play a more powerful and active role.
In addition, the conference included the presentation of the 2016 Activity Report, a special lecture on the current state of affairs, and the allocation of tasks.

The second day of the conference started with a talk on unification with Secretary General Bae Jung-ho.
Secretary General Bae analyzed the current state of affairs surrounding the North Korean nuclear issue and possible counterstrategies by the international community, and shared opinions with the Youth Council members regarding the government’s position on the peaceful unification of the nation.
Closing the session, he mentioned, “I believe that the Youth Council members have a big role to play in uniting the nation and solving the conflict between the South and the North, and I expect your active participation.”
In addition, the Youth Culture Festival for Unification Preparation, one of the major projects for this year, was discussed at the task allocation session.
The NUAC Youth Council members will engage in spreading the passion for unification among the younger generations at the national level.
In addition, the participants in the conference adopted and announced the “Resolution of the Youth Council members to Overcome the North Korean Nuclear Crisis and Achieve Unification,” along with its intention to carry out various activities to promote a heightened sense of the importance of national security and spread sympathy for unification among the nation’s youth.
