A Thai woman named Akahal Motian, who is married to a Korean, was reportedly unable to go home to Thailand to see her relatives due to lack of financial means. Thus, on November 9, 2012, the Gangwon Provincial Assembly’s Youth Committee (Chief : Jeon Je-won) gave Akahal Motian 1.5 million won to help her, her husband, and their children pay for their air fare to Thailand at the Hongcheon Gun Administrator’s office as part of a program to provide such people with financial means to visit their hometown.
The Gangwon Provincial Assembly’s Youth Committee also paid a sum of 1.5 million won to Vietnamese Jeong Ji-yeong, an immigrant by marriage, in Yanggu-gun who was in a similar situation.
