The Jung-gu Municipal Chapter (head: Yang Woo-jin) of Seoul held the 25th Namsan Signal Fire Ceremony with the hope of unification in the presence of 2,000 participants including Executive Vice-chairperson Yoo Ho-yeol and Choi Chang-sik, head of Jung-gu Office, along with various dignitaries, council members, and citizens in Seoul and tourists at the Beacon of Octagonal Pavilion in Namsan Mountain at 7 PM on August 12.

With the theme of “Peace,” “Harmony,” and ‘Ownership,” the signal fire ceremony wished for peaceful unification and residents in Jung-gu, and council members masqueraded as signal-fire military men, prime minister, and minister of the six bureaus in the Joseon Dynasty. Prior to the ceremony, the Spartan Brass Band and Baritone singer Kim Dong-kyu performed to cool the heat wave in summer followed by the recital of prayer for unification, Korean drum beating, and lighting of signal fire ceremony, which were broadcast live through the video monitors installed at the place.

The Jung-gu Chapter has held the Namsan signal fire ceremony for the hope of unification since 1992 in order to consolidate the unification will and harmony by signaling fire to proclaim peace at Namsan Mountain, which is located at the center of Seoul.
