The Seoul Provincial Assembly (Vice-chairperson: Son Gyeong-sik) Women’s Committee (Chief: Kim Yeong-suk) held a women’s committee round-table talk on "North Korea’s nuclear issue and understanding of the pending issue of North and South relations" on March 21 at PJ Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul.
On that day, the Seoul Pharmaceutical Association also joined the talks, with around 40 female council members attending. Professor Kim Tae-woo of Konyang University gave a detailed presentation on the understanding of North Korea’s current nuclear situation and what nuclear weapon is, 4th nuclear experiment of North Korea, effectiveness of the UN Security Council’s sanction on North Korea, and role of China.
“The role of every leader is significant in a situation wherein North Korea is repeatedly conducting experiments on nuclear weapons and the relations of the North and South are deteriorating as a result. We should depart from the neglect of security or fear of North Korea’s nuclear endeavors and sympathize with the current recognition of the security situation, step forward to consolidate public opinion, and spread reasonable arguments regarding the nuclear endeavors of North Korea," Professor Kim stressed during his talk.
