The Shenyang Chapter in China (Head: Kim Seong-ung) held the 2nd Unification Golden Bell on May 16 at Dalian Korean International School in the Dalian Development District, a gateway into Northeast China. A total of 153 students came from 7 regions including Shenyang, Dalian, Yanbian, Harbin, Changchun, Dandong, and Yinkou, and the contest lasted for around three hours.

Food stands were set up for participants to try ethnic food, and elementary students were invited to test their knowledge on unification in the true or false quiz contest in the morning. In addition, an award ceremony was held for the winners of the unification essay contest that accepted entries until April 17. The final winner of the Golden Bell Contest was Jeon Chang-yeol, a 10th grader of Dalian Korean International School. In the essay contest, Kim Jeong-eun (elementary school, Shenyang Korean School), Park Eon-yeong (middle school, Dalian Korean School), and Yoon A-in (high school, Yanbian Korean School) won the grand prize in their respective categories. 

The event was attended by more than 400 people including Lee Hun-bok, Vice-chairperson of the Chinese Principal Assembly, and students and teachers from local elementary and high schools. The Korean Consulate General in Shenyang sponsored the event, with support from the Korean consular office in Dalian, Dalian Korean (Traders) Association, and Dalian Korean International School.
