The Orange San Diego Chapter (head: Kwon Suk-dae) and Institute for Peace and Unification Studies of Seoul National University jointly held the first completion ceremony of Unification Academy in the USA on November 22 at Kim's Piano Recital Hall in Stanton.

The completion ceremony was attended by around 60 people, including 23 council members and students and their families and Jeong Geun-sik, director of the Institute for Peace and Unification Studies of Seoul National University.

The 1st Unification Academy, which was conducted for 6 weeks from September 16, featured lectures on international politics in the 21st century and unification of the Korean Peninsula, issues of North Korean human rights, separation and family laws, status of the North Korean economy, integration of the South and North Korean economies, and unification by Professor Park Myoung-kyu of Seoul National University’s Department of Sociology, former South Korean Foreign Minister Yoon Young-kwan, Chair-professor Park Kyung-seo of Donguk University (former first human rights ambassador of the Republic of Korea), Professor Yoon Jin-soo of Seoul National University Law School, Professor Kim Byung-yeon of Seoul National University’s Department of Economics, Professor Jung Byung-joon of Ewha Women’s University’s Department of History, and Senior Researcher Jeong Dong-joon.
