The National Unification Advisory Council (NUAC, Executive Vice-chairperson Yoo Ho-yeol) hosted the 2016 New Year’s meeting at 2 p.m. on January 6th at the secretariat office with around 300 participants including the domestic vice-chairperson, executive committee members and domestic and overseas council members.

Executive Vice-chairperson Yoo Ho-yeol, who took office on the same day, attended this meeting and it proceeded from the Pledge of Allegiance, New Year’s Address by the Executive Vice-chairperson, greeting from Secretary General, and toast with commemorative photographs.

• Executive Vice-president Yoo said at the meeting “For the past 36 years, we NUAC have advised the President of Korea on achieving a democratic and peaceful unification, collected national opinions and delivered unification policies domestically and internationally. ”He added and emphasized that “In the New Year, we have many hopes, but of the most, we hope this year will be a cornerstone for unification and bring stability to the Korean Peninsula. With the President’s will, passion and policies for unification, we hope that we can start this year with hope and confidence in order to accomplish the unification in our generation.”

• Secretary General Park said in his greetings, “I pray for health and happiness for all council members this year. I may ask council members to lead the unification policies of the government and we NUAC will assist you in accomplishing the task of unification.” After that, the Executive Vice-president, Secretary General, regional Vice-chairperson, and executive committee members all together cut the Korean traditional rice cake wishing a “2016 Peaceful Unification Promotion” to firmly establish their dedication for peaceful unification.
